Jaroslav Tjepan

International Recruiter

Jaroslav is one of our recruiters at Job Squad and is currently based in Madrid. Originally from Ukraine, he moved to Denmark when he was 13 years old and spent most of his teenage and adult life there before eventually making the move to Spain. He joined Job Squad in June 2026 and has been working in recruitment since 2017.

What Jaroslav enjoys most about being a recruiter is helping people improve their lives. For him, a job abroad is often about much more than work. It can mean better weather, new experiences, personal growth and a lifestyle that simply feels right. Knowing that he has helped someone make a positive change is what motivates him every day. As he likes to say, if he spends the day helping people, he sleeps well at night.

His own move abroad began with a simple goal: escaping the Danish weather. After years of working in sales in Denmark, he realised he could do the same job from somewhere sunnier. Without much research, he accepted a sales job in Spain and moved straight away. Unfortunately, the experience did not go as planned. The company turned out to be unreliable, and he never received the salary he had been promised. Looking back, he sees it as an important lesson. It showed him how valuable professional guidance and trustworthy employers are when moving abroad.

That experience is one of the reasons he is so passionate about helping candidates today. He knows firsthand what can happen when people accept jobs without proper support, and he works hard to make sure candidates feel informed, safe, and confident throughout the process.

Since moving abroad, Jaroslav has lived in southern Spain, spent six years in Barcelona, and now calls Madrid home. He has also travelled extensively across Spain, as well as to Malta, Greece, and Portugal. Discovering new places and meeting new people is something he never gets tired of.

For Jaroslav, the best thing about moving somewhere new is building a new network. He enjoys meeting people from different backgrounds, making new friends and exploring cities through new activities and experiences.

Outside of work, he likes staying active and spending time in the kitchen. You will often find him at the gym, on a padel or tennis court, or preparing homemade meals. He is also someone who genuinely enjoys helping others and will always do his best to make people feel supported throughout their journey abroad.

His advice for anyone considering a move abroad comes directly from his own experience: make sure you get the right support. There are many great opportunities out there, but there are also employers who do not deliver what they promise. Taking the time to find a trustworthy job and getting guidance from experienced recruiters can make all the difference.
