Intern and International Recruiter
Ida Embretsen is one of our Norwegian recruiters at Job Squad and is currently based in Barcelona, where she studies Business Management. She joined the team in March and has already been working closely with candidates who are ready to start a new chapter abroad.
What Ida enjoys most about being a recruiter is helping people take that step into something new. Moving abroad had a big impact on her own life, so being able to guide others through the same experience feels meaningful to her. For Ida, working abroad is all about opening the door to new opportunities, cultures, and ways of living.
Her own journey abroad started right after high school, when she decided to move to Crete on her own. It was her first time leaving home like that and she quickly realised how much she enjoyed it. After that, she spent several months backpacking in Asia and has continued to travel whenever she gets the chance. Curiosity and a desire to see more of the world have always been her main motivation.
For Ida, the best part about moving somewhere new is the personal growth that comes with it. Stepping out of your comfort zone, meeting people from different backgrounds, and experiencing things you would never have at home can really change your perspective.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends, staying active, and exploring new places. She also likes creating content on social media and documenting her life abroad. One thing that stands out about Ida is her openness to new experiences. She tends to say yes first and figure things out along the way, whether that means traveling somewhere new or trying something she has never done before.
Her advice for anyone thinking about moving abroad is simple: don’t overthink it. You will never feel completely ready and that is part of the process. Stay open-minded, say yes to opportunities and trust that things will fall into place.
