Erika is one of our team members at Job Squad, originally from Gothenburg in Sweden, now living in Barcelona, Spain. She recently joined Job Squad as a Business Developer and Sales Manager, bringing her international mindset and passion for people into the role.

What Erika enjoys most about working as a recruiter is the opportunity to help candidates fulfil their dream of moving abroad. Having gone through that journey herself, she understands both the excitement and the uncertainty that come with taking such a step.

Her own story started with a dream. Erika had always wanted to live and work abroad, so she decided to act on it and moved to Barcelona. The plan was simple: stay for one year. But life had other ideas. She quickly fell in love with the city, its culture, and the people, and that one year turned into nine. Today, she still calls Barcelona her home.

For Erika, the best thing about moving abroad is how much it expands your world. A new culture, different food, meaningful friendships, and fresh perspectives all come together to shape a completely new way of living and seeing things.

When she’s not helping others take the leap abroad, Erika enjoys the slower side of Barcelona life. You will often find her sitting in the sun at one of the city’s many cosy cafés with friends. And if she’s not there, she’s most likely in a park with her rescue dog, Ruben.

Her advice for anyone thinking about moving abroad is simple, but honest: Choose "yes" early on. The first months are where everything begins to take shape, so it matters how you show up. Say yes, even when it feels unfamiliar or slightly uncomfortable. That is where new connections, experiences, and opportunities start to unfold.
