Where to start

It’s not easy to find a job where you can travel AND earn money at the same time. Having the dream is step one. Step two is creating a list of questions. One of the most important questions is: where do you want to live? You could select the first country by throwing a dart at a world map, but our suggestion is to think about it a little. The next step is selecting what kind of job you want.

The combination of these two things is essential in starting your adventures abroad. At Job Squad we offer multiple jobs in all sorts of countries. It gives you the opportunity to gain some experience with having a job abroad and test if digital nomad jobs are your thing. These jobs are not fully remote jobs, but it’s a great start for your working career abroad, creating

Online sales

Are you able to sell a pen to a stranger? Do you always manage to convince others? And were you able to convince your mom to clean your room when you were a kid? If your answer is yes to these questions, you would be great at online sales. With your talent, it doesn’t really matter what you have to sell. You will get the job done. There are multiple ways to travel while working in online sales. You could become a remote sales representative, or an online sales manager. Some big, international companies even support relocationing. You will work for a great company, and be able to see the world at the same time!

Gaining experience in online sales

Gaining experience in online sales first could be important for your future fully remote job. The experience gets you acquainted with sales tools and improves the skills needed for online sales, like digital communication skills, objection handling and negotiating. Also, make sure to keep yourself up to date on the online marketing funnels and the latest social media trends. These things can help you to understand the clients needs, which helps you to sell them the product. If you can prove that you are able to get results independently, getting into online sales as a remote job is a possibility.

Travel and earn money with working in customer support

Are you done with the borders of your country, and do you want to widen your horizons? Maybe you just graduated, and you want a gap year job abroad. As a digital nomad, you can work in customer support. The only thing you need is a computer setup, with a ticket system where you answer calls through the computer. Big companies often offer work from home setups for specific countries in Europe. If you get a job for one of the big multinational companies we cooperate with in Athens, this is also an option. With these jobs, travelling and making money goes hand in hand.

Working in customer support increases important skills in human interaction, conflict resolution and multi-channel communication. You learn how to work under pressure and stay calm at all times. You will also learn to work with different supporting systems and tools, a skill that will really help you if you get better job opportunities within customer support. You could become a team leader, or even the head of customer support in your company.

Doing this as a remote job requires the ability to manage your time well. There are no colleagues around to check on what you are doing. The skills you acquire from the job itself and from gaining the work experience in an international company are huge assets to any future employer no matter the industry. It’s essential to master human interactions and problem solving in any job position you will ever encounter, and combined with working in a multicultural environment, you’re setting yourself up for success.

Use your camera skills

If you want a fully remote job, being able to work with a camera is an amazing skill. Youtubers, influencers, news correspondents and journalists, all of these jobs can be done as a digital nomad. Next to these, you could also work fully remote in lifestyle, fashion, beauty, educational vlogging or travel vlogging. Working in these kinds of jobs requires skills in verbal communication, editing and working with scripts. Being able to adapt to situations is also important. With your camera, and your presenting skills, you want to tell a compelling story to the people watching.

You could also get a job in the entertainment industry, becoming an actor/actress, dancer or singer. There are a lot of places in the world where you could give shows. Travel from one place to another and discover the world while you entertain other tourists. Who knows it will help you to find a job in lifestyle, fashion, beauty, educational vlogging or travel vlogging.

If the cameras are your best friend, you could also become an online game presenter. In this job, you will be presenting all sorts of online betting shows. You will be the star of the show as you lead these games. After a day of working hard, there is just so much to explore and so much to see in your new hometown. You start as a tourist and within months you will feel like a local.

Working fully remote in IT

Jobs in IT are ideal for people who enjoy solving problems, building things from scratch, and thinking logically. Working in IT can be very independent and autonomous, ideal for a fully remote job. People need IT support all over the globe. Computers can be difficult. Every story has a villain (the computer, TV, router, software, or app) and a hero (you!). Working in a job like this, you need to have skills in troubleshooting, know all about the remote access tools and the Operating Systems.

You could become a software engineer, data scientist or technical writer for a huge company, while working fully remote.

Because you work with people, you gain valuable experience in human interaction. This could be used to find jobs in other working environments as well. Save people from throwing their laptop out of the window and improve your IT skills at the same time. After helping people all day, it’s time for you to close your computer and relax.

Why international work experience is important to get a remote job

At Job Squad, we have got a lot of experience with fully remote jobs. We asked our colleague Amber why international work experience is important to get a remote job:

It’s important to know what you are getting into before you start working remotely. It sounds amazing, but there’s a lot of situations and challenges that you don’t even consider if you’ve never spent a longer period abroad. It requires a certain level of flexibility and responsibility, which you develop when you’ve already worked in an international environment.”
